Melink Canada is the corporate representative for a commercial kitchen ventilation control system. The company was formed in order to further develop demand ventilation energy savings. Since its inception, Melink Canada has been a leader in demand ventilation for Intelli-Hood® kitchens across Canada.
The product, Intelli-Hood Ventilation Control, is a new industry standard for commercial kitchen ventilation systems. Some of the savings and benefits of Intelli-Hood are as follows:
- Improves energy efficiency - The Intelli-Hood® Controls improve energy efficiency by reducing the exhaust and make-up fan speeds during idle cooking periods. Typical payback periods are in the one to three year range.
- Improves kitchen comfort - The Intelli-Hood® Controls improve kitchen comfort by reducing the supply of hot, humid make-up air during idle periods. The Intelli-Hood controls also reduce hood noise in the kitchen by up to 90% when the fans are on slow down mode.
- Improves fire safety - The Intelli-Hood® Controls improve fire safety by monitoring the exhaust air temperature.
- Improves occupant health -The Intelli-Hood® Controls can improve indoor air quality by monitoring the CO2 levels in the dining area. The exhaust and outdoor air quantities can be increased to 100% if levels exceed an unsafe threshold.
Some other advantages of Intelli-Hood® include the elimination of drive loses, extend HVAC equipment life, and the reduction of grease to the surrounding air by reducing transport velocity.
The product is endorsed by the federal government through the National Research Council, by Union Gas and by Enbridge Gas. While saving operating energy, this product also qualifies for incentive rebates.
